Scott County is currently one of Minnesota’s fastest growing counties; recent Metropolitan Council estimates indicate a population growth rate approaching 30 percent. Located in the southwestern region of the seven county metropolitan area (approximately 25 miles southwest of the city of Minneapolis), Scott County is characterized by a unique blend of the rural, suburban, and urban elements as well as its lakes, wetlands, and rolling terrain.
Boating - Public boat landings are provided at Carl's (McMahon), Cedar, Fish, O'Dowd Lake, Spring Lake, and Prior Lake, as well as on the Minnesota River.
Regional Parks - Cleary Lake Regional Park features a nine-hole, Par 29 golf course; swimming; non-power boating; camping; trails; fishing; and picnic and playground areas. Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve features cross-country ski trails, horseback-riding trails, mountain-bike trails, snowmobile trails, pet trails, and turf-hiking trails. Spring Lake Regional Park is an undeveloped, 345-acre terrain with woodlands, marshes, and lakeshore.
Minnesota Valley Trail - when completed, will follow the Minnesota River from Ft. Snelling to the city of Le Sueur. The trail features picnicking, hiking, cross- country skiing, snowmobiling, individual and group camping, and horseback- riding trails.
Murphy's Landing - Murphy's Landing is an 87-acre, multi-national living museum depicting the life patterns of the people who lived in the Minnesota River Valley during the formative years of 1840-1890.
Snowmobiling - There are 105 miles of snowmobile trails in Scott County.
Bicycling – There are three trails in Scott County offering intermediate and advanced level riding - James Wilkie Unit, Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, and Louisville Swamp.
Other Scott County Attractions include - Canterbury Downs – horseracing track, Mystic Lake Casino – casino gaming, Raceway Park – auto racing, Minnesota Renaissance Festival – festival offering a visit to medieval times, ValleyFair – amusement park.
